Express remain Beasts of the East! Win 3rd consecutive Eastern Title.

On Sunday June 29th 2008 the Elkhart Express captured their 3rd consecutive Eastern Conference Championship by defeating their #1 rival the Battle Creek Knights 147-130 in front of the best fans in all of the IBL the "Express Nation".  North Side Gym was alive and rockin as all the bells and whistles were in full gear as the city of Elkhart had the playoff fever.

Up next for the Express is a trip out to Bellingham, Washington to take on the Bellingham Slam for the League Championship.

Sunday's breakdown:
As he has done all season Cedric Moodie put on an offensive showcase collecting 40pts in 40 minutes.  The IBL's #2 scorer has only one thing on his mind and that is going into Bellingham, Washington and taking home the overall League Championship for the 3rd time.

Big time point guard Tim Pledger showed once again why he is one of if not the best pure point guard in the league.  Tim's constant hustle and verbal cues have been un-matched by any guard we have seen.  Tim ran the Express offence to perfection finishing 16pts, 8 assists with 0 turnovers, and 3 steals.

Chris Charles led the Express bigs with 14pts, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots.  Jarrod Lovette played well despite being bother by a calf injury.  Lovette finished with 12pts and 3 rebounds.

Elkhart advanced to the title game by defeating a very talented Windy City Soldiers 123-106 in Friday's semi final.  Cedric Moodie led the Express with 34pts.  Jarrod Lovette collected 14pts and 10 rebounds.

Battle Creek advanced to the final by defeating a hard nosed Elgin Racers team 116-100 in a very close and competitive game in Saturday's semi final.  Battle Creek was led by Kendrick Cornelius 25pts.  Rashi Johnson dealt out a game high 7 assists.  Elgin was led by Keith Gayden's 23pts and 17 rebounds.

The 3rd quarter however is the Express quarter.  Elkhart all season has exploded out of half time and they didn't waver this time.  Elkhart put up 45pts in the 3rd and took a 109-85 lead into the fourth.

Elkhart was led by it's amazing back court duo of Cedric Moodie and Tim Pledger.  Ced finished with a game high 34pts and dished out 6 assists.  Tim Pledger looked playoff ready erupting for a season best 32pts and 9 assists.  Jarrod Lovette and Chris Charles took care of the inside combining for 32pts and 21 rebounds.
